Last week, DCist noticed that Krispy Keme was promoting themselves even more dropping off free treats at office doors near Dupont Circle.
We think their choice in location is brilliant. Krispy Kreme opens out onto a passageway that is one of the few places to hide out from the rain near Dupont Circle. It's at the end of the escalators leading to the Dupont metrorail station. There's nothing like Krispy Kreme to make a cold December rain tolerable. Screw the low carb fads.

I'm not so sure about the location. I mean, the daytime population is mainly over-image-conscious DCuppies and at night it's anorexic gay men. They might've done better in, uhm, rounder, areas.
But probably the homeless guys will buy the cheap donuts.
sunday night i stood gazing into the shrine of krispy kreme on dupont. i was raised worshiping the krispy kreme doughnut, and have often watched the religious process of the doughnut being fried and then glazed.
however, last night as i saw visions of doughnuts rolling off the assembly line into dupont circle, i did not see any oil in assembly line. instead, i saw what looks like an oven...
my girlfriend and i disagreed sharply about the purpose of the oven. probably prematurely, i am worried the new dupont krispy kreme has gone the way of dunkin donuts: baked instead of fried. my girlfriend took a much more optimistic line of logic arguing that krispy kreme would never change their tried and true magic. but, i only saw an oven.
let us all pray that krispy kreme has not sold it's soul to baking donuts.
i'm sure they'll succeed, if only because they had such a marketing blitz in dupont circle that the fact they were opening could escape no one's notice. they brought free donuts to my office THREE TIMES last week. it was awesome. i am a krispy kreme slave for life.
