The True Story of Seven Annoying People

Image from rollingstone.comWe've heard the rumors before. And had them dismissed. And we've heard some more rumors. And had those dismissed, too. But this time, we swear it's TOTALLY true (at least until the rumors are dismissed): Washington, D.C. is getting is very own Real World season. For real! E! T.V. columnist Kristin Veitch reports:

Capital and Punishment: The first email I received, I disregarded. Same goes for the second. But after five different D.C. looky-loos emailed me with the following tip, I got a little suspicious.

According to some chatterboxes in our nation's capital, MTV has purchased a large space in the Adams Morgan district, across from Caribou Coffee, and the buzz around town is that it will be the future home of the next set of seven strangers...picked to live in a house...you know the rest.

A rep for MTV said the Adams Morgan rumor has been going around for years, and while there are currently no plans to film there, they are scouting out a lot of cities.

DCist has long yearned for a D.C. Real World season, if only so we can fulfill our dream of making out with/beating up one (or several) of the seven strangers on camera. However, for right now, we recommend putting this one in with the grain-of-salt files. But if it actually comes true: remember, you heard it here first! Must credit DCist!

that rumour's been going around ever since the apartments in that building went on the market, almost a year ago.

the one interesting variation i've heard is that MTV has rented out the building, but it's going to be for a different show. i hope it's something of the "'road rules' meets 'k street'" variety.

Funny that you mention it, because there appears to be some strange penthouse contstruction going on above the building across from Caribou Coffee. Its the one with that Leftcoast place in it. I pray that they won't be disturbing my Saturday morning brunches at Tryst.

Yay! More traffic (camera trucks) and more obnoxious (mostly white) people with dubious employment are *exactly* what we need in Adams Morgan!!!

Plus the added benefit of the gawkers. We all know that as soon as filming starts, it will take appoximately fifteen seconds for everyone in town to know the address, all the tenants' names, histories, and peccadillios. Ahh, small town living.

Rob:

sip your latté at ease: those are just million dollar condos that Sahir (the guy who owns Leftbank and -I believe- the building) has been throwing up there to further his real estate winnings in the area. i think the zoning laws allows him to put up a couple of more floor.

but that, combined with real estate designs on the rest of the block, does mean that you might not always be able to tan while you sip.
