Rabies Warning
Look out from above! Beware of bats, and watch your pets. District health officials are warning residents of a rabies threat from bats and want residents to fix broken screens, vents or any other part of your home where bats can find their way inside. In fact, 14 rabies-infected bats, four rabid cats and eight rabid raccoons have been found, the health department reports.
In a health department press release, “We strongly advise residents against capturing bats themselves. ... Children and pets in particular should be watched closely to ensure that they do not attempt to touch wild animals.”
