Change Clothes: Summer Sales Abound
In this oppressive heat, DCist has found it difficult to leave the house even for work, much less shopping. But this evening’s U Street Shopper Social, with area stores boasting savings on everything from designer denim to 19th century farm tables, might be incentive enough for us to leave our artificially-cooled abodes. Plus, there’s free cupcakes!
The U Street Shopper Social, which is held on the third Thursday of every month, is an event to “celebrate the U Street shoppers and show our appreciation by extending special discounts,” according to Jackie Flanagan, owner of Nana (1534 U St. NW). Flanagan said they started holding the events last July, and each month more businesses have joined in as word has spread.
Tonight from 5-8 p.m., shoppers can check out savings such as 50% off all spring and summer shoes at Wild Women Wear Red (1512 U Street NW) and 20% off everything at Carbon (1203 U St. NW), which features everything from shoes to furniture to bags.
At Pink November (1231 U St. NW), which has everything from metallic handbags to Members Only jackets, take 10% off all regular price merchandise and an extra 5% off if you’re wearing pink. Other participating stores include Meeps (1520 U St. NW), Boundless Yoga (1522 U St. NW), Habitat (1510 U St. NW), Junction (1510 U St. NW), Goodwood (1428 U St. NW) and the new Designer Consignor (1515 U St. NW). After surviving your sweltering shopping trip, stop in the Love Cafe and get a free cupcake with the purchase of a smoothie.
Another area sale to check out is at Georgetown boutique Wink (3109 M St.), which has marked down everything in the store 40%-50%, making those Salt jeans or that Tocca dress you’ve been eyeing even more tempting. Also, Pop (1803 14th St. NW) has marked down selected summer merchandise 30%, and All About Jane (2438 18th St. NW) is offering 50% off selected items on Saturday. Do you know of any great summer sales?
