All successful brands come in a variety of flavors, even DCist. Our newest flavor combines one part iPod, one part D.C. music scene and one part audio adventure. You can taste this flavor-filled nugget by downloading our inaugural podcast that features interviews with and music by The Positions (pictured here) who recently released their first full-length CD titled Bliss!; Laura Burhenn, who organized and performed in a Katrina music benefit we co-sponsored at American University on September 9th; and Paul Michel, who also played at the benefit.

We hope the podcast will be a monthly feature where we can interview local musicians and personalities in depth, and provide you some of the sounds of the city we love.

We wanted to experiment and reach out to readers on the run; however, we didn’t want to exclude those who need assistance drowning out office annoyances or those who may be seeking a new audio treat. Our first podcast is about exposing local musicians who can’t always be found on commercial radio stations but can be seen and heard at local clubs like DC9, State Theatre and Black Cat. Future podcasts will not just include music, but other material drawn from DCist's growing community of writers and readers. What would you like to hear in the podcast?
