Sometimes We Just Heart Fluff

Trishelle from The Real World Las Vegas castDCist has been sent some unsubstantiated celebrity sightings from this weekend. We put our fact checkers hot on the confirmation trail, but really, celebrity sightings are more intriguing gossip than serious journalistic news, so we've decided to go straight to you, our eyes and ears on the ground. So dish already.

Here are the details as we know them right now:

On Saturday, the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development hosted an open call at One Judiciary Square to cast extras for Nicole Kidman's new movie The Visiting. The extras will portray "'Snatchers' (people infected with a virus), military, police, government dignitaries, upscale party guests, citizens of Baltimore and the District, and resistance fighters." The Post's GoG Blog notes that filming will take place at the George Washington University Hospital, as well as in Georgetown, on Embassy Row, and in downtown Baltimore. OK, so this one isn't a celebrity sighting, but did anyone go or has anyone stumbled upon some filming?

We've been told that Kidman's ex, you know, the crazy couch-jumping one, caused some traffic backups on Sunday as Mission Impossible 3 filmed in the HOV lanes on the 14th Street Bridge. At first we assumed it was a mistake and the real culprit was the Army Ten-Miler re-route, but the filming occurred later in the day and the rumor is partially confirmed on the IMDB boards. We hope this wasn't the cause for the HOV lanes remaining uncharacteristically southbound until 8:30 p.m. yesterday.

Now for this last sighting, DCist thinks that the term "celebrity" may need the "special" "treatment." Apparently, The Real World's (Las Vegas) Trishelle was seen on Wilson Blvd. driving a pickup with North Carolina license plates Saturday. Later she was rumored to have turned up at a bar in Arlington.

So, any further details? Rants on the fascination of celebrity in society? Is anyone as ticked off as DCist that the HOV lanes were southbound on a Sunday afternoon?

Drove out of the city on the 14th street bridge around 1, there was a big tent city set up near pentagon/pentagon city. Lots of trucks with "Paramount Pictures" written on the side and all registered in California. So...def believable. Got a picture somewhere too.

Considering that it took nearly 1½ hours to get from Quantico to Pentagon City (23 miles) on northbound 95 at 7pm, last night, yeah, I'm more than a little upset.

I also really enjoyed burning nearly a quarter tank of gas and constantly shifting between 1st-2nd-3rd-2nd-1st and so on.

What was with the long line of middle-aged white people in their Sunday best yesterday morning that went west on M and around the corner up Connecticut?

the line on M was Red Mass at St. Matthews.

I have it on good authority that there's another movie being filmed on the Hill (5th St., SE to be exact) with Matt Damon and DeNiro this coming Monday...some Angelina Jolie movie (though she won't be here.)

I crossed the 14th Street bridge during all this and saw a bunch of ambulences and such, I was wondering how there could have been an accident if the bridge was closed.
