Your New Neighbors: Brad and Angelina

-1.jpgWashington has traded up in the area of celebrity worshiping, it seems. Gone are the days of grudgingly admitting that someone is "famous for D.C." Nicole Kidman, Kiefer Sutherland and Eva Longoria may have left town but media darlings, humanitarians and the preternaturally pretty Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are ready to move in. Literally. A faithful DCist reader tipped us off to a People Magazine report that Brad and Angelina were seen leaving the offices of an "upscale real estate broker" on Saturday afternoon. The Post's Reliable Source reported that the unconfirmed twosome had dinner (along with Jolie's son Maddox) at the Mayflower last Thursday. If that's not enough, our spies report seeing the Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-stars at Cafe Milano on Friday night, sharing a table just inches away from May-December husband and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas.

All this has us wondering where exactly this dynamic duo would live while saving the world one orphaned child at a time. Perhaps they'll opt for a small Capitol Hill rowhouse when they're lobbying Congress? Maybe something more roomy along Foxhall Road in Northwest? We bet they could certainly afford one of the fancy new condos springing up in Columbia Heights. Or how about a group house in Adams Morgan?

Either way, there goes the neighborhood.

DCist wants to give credit where it's due. Thanks to Holly Garner for doing some impressive leg work on this.

Ha! That's hilarious. Wow, how great would it be if they made it their primary residence. Imagine the tax revenues!! We could build a stadium on Fight Club residuals alone.

I don't know why exactly they want a house here (I'm sure they could always get a room at the Four Seasons). I'm sure they have no plans to "live" here. Maybe it's just the trendy thing to do among politically infatuated actors nowadays.

And there's no doubt in my mind that if they do buy in the District, it will be either on or around Foxhall.

Here's the address of the house they're looking at in the picture:

2113 S ST NW
WASHINGTON, DC 20008

I guess I was wrong on their location preference. I guess that's more like Kalorama area (which would've been my second guess, actually). You can take an online tour at the Sotheby's website.

I saw Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas at the Smithsonian art opening last Friday at the African Art Museum and one of their handlers shoved my friend aside to make room for them. CZJ looked totally bored. They were both really shiney, like new copper pennies.

Perhaps this is what Ryan meant when he said, "this place feels like a city that's preparing for it's close up."

If they do move here, WIS (Washington International School) is pretty much a shoe-in.

Personally, I'm hoping they opt for somewhere along the Oragne line in the direction of Vienna. It's purely selfish, but I'd enjoy seeing the reactions of riders as they squeezed up next to Brad or Angelina in the afternoons.

Well then I hope someone alerts Brad to change his iPod headphones to less conspicuous ones. Though maybe an iPod theft with a celebrity factor would focus the national debate on this critical issue.

Brad and Angelina are way too cool for Fairfax...

Maybe they are going to flip the house and cash in on the housing bubble. damn real estate dabbling celebrities.

Um, I don't think they're in it for the investment. Otherwise, we'd see them in front of an Anacostia property...not Kalorama.

I'm thinking the 14th street corridor is way more their speed, although I'd be excited if they moved to Arlington.

Here is a list of my most likely neighborhood:

Kalorama ( they were there )
Dupont ( nearby)
Capitol Hill
Logan Circle

I hope they end up somewhere in WARD 3, where they can hang out with Jonathan, Thelma, Juan, and the rest of the gang.

nah, they'll probably moved into adams morgan, i hear it's an up-and-coming neighborhood.

Perhaps somewhere in "Little Ethiopa." You know, so Zahara can be closer to her people.

My guess is they'll go the Foxhall/upper NW/AU Park route as they'll need some sort of house that's huge and has a good gate around it.

I only hope that this will mean more direct flights to the West Coast from National!

My guess is with all the work with international adoption not only do they want to be near Congress and lots of NGOs, it is great to be close to so many embassies. Also, they won't remove the Hollywood "taint" that people see, but perhaps this can minimize it in the eyes of would be critics of their work. Ok, it won't. But maybe they are trying.

they can come and buy the house i'm living in now. 2009 13th st. our landlord just put it on the market. that way they're close to 'little ethiopia' and 14th st...

Rest assured this will not be their main residence. For people with as much money as them, purchasing a house where they can install security measures and have more privacy is an easy choice, especially since they seem to plan on being here 4 times a year or whatever to attend conferences and do photo-ops with senators. But I sincerely doubt they'd make it their main home base. It just doesn't make sense.

Several hollywood celebs have made Middleburg, VA their 3-6 month "home base." Most celebrities at a certain level have a house in LA, a condo in Manhattan and vacation homes. It would not surprise me if they made a DC house a 3 months a year residence or just a stopping ground. Both need to have their offices in LA, but don't need to live there for connections. When I met Brad and Jen it was in DC and everyone I know who met Angelina did so at the Capitol. I believe this is all possible.

I heard they were in Truxton Circle looking at places.

Oh if they were in Truxton Circle I'd know. It would be nice, a starlette's security entourage alone would improve the Truxton area's crime rate.

From the Post's Reliable Source:

So how excited were you by the buzz all over the Internet yesterday that Brad and Angelina were checking out D.C. real estate? People's Web site even had a photo of the twosome in front of a rowhouse with a for-sale sign! Alas, they were just "admiring the architecture" of the Kalorama home of gallery owner Geoffrey Diner , a gallery rep told us. Even though the four-bedroom house happens to be on the block for $2 mil, the two are not shopping for real estate, assert both the gallery rep and Brad's rep. Perhaps they'll save that for Cambodia, which bestowed citizenship on Jolie, it was revealed yesterday.

who are dese guys again?

I love bred pitt and angi too and i wish them all the happiness thank u

Hate to break it to people, but your location predictions were all wrong. I have a reliable source reporting they bought a home in Georgetown, on N St.

Lets be real they are moving to Mclean/Great Falls.....it only 15 minutes from arlington/dc/md. You have the comforts and safety of the Suburbs in a Metropolitan. All the weallthy Senators, Execs, Athletes, and the former head of AOL live in McLean/Great Falls.
