Introducing Opinionist
Judging from the comments you leave us, loyal readers, you've got plenty to say. So say it here. This past Sunday, we launched Opinionist, our version of an Op/Ed section that gives our contributors and now you, the reader, a chance to express your opinions about the issues affecting your life.
We encourage thoughtful, critical, constructive and articulate first person op-eds about almost anything and everything having to do with life in DC and its environs. Observations about city life, politics (local, national and international) arts, culture, food, music, metro, sports, et cetera are all valid topics provided they express your opinion. Basically, what we don't want are non-constructive rants, personal grudges or thinly veiled threats. DCist will not be publishing any libelous or slanderous language in any way shape or form, so please don't send us anything you can't back up.
We've had our say, and now it's your turn. Keep reading for our submission criteria and email me (hemal.jhaveri at gmail dot com) with your ideas, we're curious to see what's been on your mind.
Please note that your column is subject to some editing, either for the
sake of clarity or for legal issues.
Opinionist will be published every Sunday.
A head shot will be posted with each piece---no exceptions. We don't
want any anonymous postings under this umbrella. If you have an
opinion, be prepared to stand by it.
Posts/submissions should run from 400-600 words. If you've got more
to say, feel free, but make sure it's entertaining.
