Music Tidbits
Put Your Hands on Standby
NYC blog rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah made a few ripples through DCist the last time they came to town. Have they honed their live show any more since the last time around? Or, as some people would say, learned to play their songs yet? These observations and more will be yours to make on March 8 as they play the 9:30 Club. Tickets are available through the CYHSY website (you have to register first).
Calla Show Cancelled
More news from the NYC indie rock front: Calla, scheduled to play next Thursday at the Black Cat, has cancelled the show. We're not sure what caused the cancellation, but they do appear to be keeping their Wednesday and Friday gigs in tact (Philly and Baltimore, respectively).
Tour News
D.C. is, as of yet, getting no love from many newly announced tours (The Boy Least Likely To, Mylo, Isobel Campbell, Of Montreal, Andrew Bird, Mogwai and Imogen Heap), but we do have a few things coming our way. Feist will be playing the Black Cat on Feb 8, as will the Hold Steady on Feb 1. Two out of nine ain't bad...right?

Did anyone go to the ?uestlove gig at the 930 club this weekend? Would love to hear about it?
CRAP. I had lined up a gaggle of people for the Calla show already. Balls.
DC is however being visited by 2 other hype-worthy bands; ironicly as opening acts. Islands, the new project from 2 former Unicorns will be opening for Metric at the 9:30 Club on 3/9 (before the Pogues play a later show) and Delaware's The Spinto Band who are set to get big in Europe this year will be opening for the Arctic Monkeys at the 9:30 Club on 3/27.
It does sort of suck that The Boy Least Likely To isn't playing around here just yet. Of Montreal is playing Charlottesville which I think is fine because they don't typically get a whole lot of decent indie stuff. And don't complain about Andrew Bird -- he just played the Black Cat a few months ago!
Plus we're getting Stars at the Black Cat!
I will always complain about The Go! Team snubbing DC every time they go on tour, and will consisitently be amazed that no one else does.
Katie, gracias on the two updates (especially Islands).
What is that I see at the DC9 Calendar?
Did I miss that post?
Never fear, Ojin, that post is coming. You won't be able to miss it.
