Snap, Crackle...Pop Goes to Brooklyn
D.C.: If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. Wait, isn’t that New York? Regardless, 14th Street boutique Pop recently expanded to open a second location in hipster haven Williamsburg, Brooklyn (308 Grand St.).
If you're Brooklyn-bound, on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pop is hosting a shopping party boasting DJs, drinks and discounts, which just so happen to be our three favorite “D’s.”
Even if a weekend trip on the Chinatown bus isn’t on your agenda, you still can benefit. Pop owner Sheila Sharma tells us that all winter styles are now 30% off, and everything that’s left over will be 50% off this weekend. (So, um, maybe you should wait.)
Right now you can get 50% off menswear like Modern Amusement graphic long-sleeved tees, Spiewak quilted vests and Ben Sherman pants. Let the half-off pants jokes commence. For the ladies, there’s 50% off bright Tulle tweed coats and polos from Le Tigre and Original Penguin are available in a crayon-like palette of colors that would make a first grader jealous. Plus 75% off Dollhouse jeans and denim skirts.
And for once we can tell our friends in New York that we had it here first. Not that we like to brag.

Thank god it's still going to be here. I was afraid when I saw that headline that they were leaving DC. They seem to have finally got their product mix about right and it's one of the best places to buy interesting men's clothes in the district. Now, if they would only add shoes.
awesome. as a rockin' alterna-dude, i'm totally pumped that i'll still be able to get all the ben sherman, penguin, and 7 diamonds gear that i can't get at department stores like nordstrom. oh, wait a minute...
Yeah, exactly. I really want to like Pop, but they really don't carry anything I can't get anywhere else. Check out Destination U for a more interesting merchandise mix.
I disagree. There are a lot of unique items in POP that you wouldn't find in a department store.
I like the fact that I don't have to go to a big department store and fight through crowds only to end up with clothing that makes me look like everyone else.
Pop is just a half block from my house so i really really wanted to like it and therefore generously dismissed the consistently bad service i received.
but if you're going to be a small local business, you have to cultivate a clientele, and the disinterested, gossiping and downright hostile service at Pop is not winning any fans among my friends in the neighborhood.
i'd rather kick in a few extra dollars and take my business to Nana, where the staff is consistently kind whether youre buying or not.
If you visit Pop, stop by and rate them here:

As the owner of POP I appreciate and take into consideration all the comments. We've been growing through some changes and growing pains in the last 6 months as we expand. PLEASE, if you ever experience bad service or generally have any questions, concerns or suggestions, email me right away at Sheila@shoppop.com and I will do my utmost to correct or address the issue. POP is a solely owned small business--not a department store--and that as well as striving to have unique/affordable stuff, sets us apart. We're not perfect by any means, but we try and we value our customers, so thanks. Sheila Sharma Owner POP
Much love, Sheila. It's great to see the power of online communication proving its worth. As an aside, I have long had a crush on you, Sheila, and wish you nothing but the best in Billyburg. Good luck!
Pop's stuff isn't bad, but y'all need to check out Muleh for some hip threads....
I didn't even know Muleh sold clothing until a week ago, but the stuff they carry is pretty forward for DC.
Pop is great. We're lucky to have it in the neighborhood. They definitely carry some cool stuff you don't find at "Nordstrom". And besides, who wants to go to a freakin' mall? Pop is right here. Support 'em.
