Breaking News: George Mason in Final Four

mason.jpgThe George Mason Patriots are Final Four bound. After trailing by as many as 12 points in the first half of this afternoon's game, George Mason took the lead in the second period and took the top seeded Connecticut Huskies to overtime. Mason never trailed in the extra period and hung on to win when a last second Husky three missed the mark. The Patriots are the first 11 seed to make the Final Four since the 1986 LSU squad. Next weekend they'll play the winner of the Florida/Villanova matchup for the right to play in the finals. Our hearty congratulations to go out to GMU.

Oh. My. God.

Go Mason!!!

I'd like to say I projected this while bitching and moaning for more GMU coverage from you and other media this season, but OMG, who could have possibly expected this???

I AM SPEECHLESS!

Now that we have beaten the defending champs and the #1-ranked favorites, why not us? I'm mean really, why not? We can do this!

Go Patriots!

How about the women's Terps? They are also doing well. Let's see some coverage of another local team. They're scheduled to play Utah Monday night, if I'm not mistaken.

Imagine if you went to work one day, and said that your place of biz should not sign a contract because it would cost your biz a ton of money and make your company look bad. You propose another contract which you say is ten times better, and when asked about the other contract that your company wants to sign you said "well I don't know anything about them but that doesn't matter" and then two weeks your are wrong, dead wrong. Chances are you would probably have to quit or you would be fired. So I say can Billy Packer!

We're all Mason all the time over at my blog this week with links by Mason alums and more. And yes, we're stunned and deliriously happy. xxoo, thb
