Showcase Your Single Self

washingtonian.gifIf we've heard it once, we've heard it a million times: D.C. is one of the best cities in which to be single. In fact, according to a Forbes 2005 report on the best cities for singles, the Washington-Baltimore area is number five, edged out by Denver-Boulder, Boston, San Francisco, and Raleigh-Durham in spots one through four, respectively.

In case you have a single friend who is having a rough time getting digits at the neighborhood bar, or if you have a particularly horrendous first-date story from here in the District, perhaps you want to submit them to the Washingtonian.

The magazine is soliciting info for an upcoming issue on singles and dating, but really, do we need another "dating in D.C" cover story? They are looking for "only in Washington" date stories, "date from hell" scenarios, as well as nominations for their sections on the area's 20 most eligible singles. Have there really been dates where the other person could not pull themselves away from their BlackBerry for more than five seconds? Is that what dating has become here in the District? More stories like that might make our Forbes ranking plummet to number six, or maybe seven.

If you're in the sharing mood, send your dating war stories to singles (at) washingtonian (dot) com.

I saw some of the Washingtonian interns out at Pharmacy Bar Saturday night ... they're pretty hot.
