Great choice of headline, Ryan!
Boo video here
It's hard to tell their booing once the white noise starts up, but it's pretty evident that it's an "ooooo" noise at the beginning.
second that. and what's up with a one-hopper? old/nearly dead or not, get the damn ball over the plate like a man for cryin' out loud.
Probably hard to throw a strike with a bullet-proof vest on, though I can't tell for sure if he was wearing one.
strike or not, just throw it far enough to not look like a total wuss.
actually, the fact that he tossed up a flacid looper is all the more fitting
Something tells me it was more than the one-hopper they were booing.
I was at today's game, and I can assure you that the fact that the first pitch bounced in the dirt had NOTHING to do with the crowd booing Cheney. They were booing him from the second he stepped out of the dugout. I have been going to baseball games for 25 years and have never heard anything like it.
Shame on the Washington Post for distorting the truth and implying that he was booed because of a bad throw and not because he is a war-mongering psychopath. I guess that is one more example of the liberal media, right?
The booing started the second they said Cheney's name, and grew louder as he walked toward the mound. The pitch had absolutely nothing to do with it--if anything, there was some sarcastic clapping in our section after he threw.
up in the 500 level, it was 90% boos ... and there were plenty of plump suburbanites around us, i was surprised ... and scott is right, the boos started right when he stepped out of the dugout
Smithers! Come hither and throw this for me.
I think Cheney's personal "Smithers" is a little too busy to substitute throw right now
Indeed, there were plenty of us booing him from the minute he stepped out from the 500s. (And not all of us (even the plump ones) are suburbanites.)
No, it had nothing to do with the pitch.
I'm sure he really gives a shit about being booed. And from lib losers who post to DCist. You can vote him out of office the next time he runs. Children.
I would say about 60% of the people who throw out the first pitch (that I have personally seen) have made one hoppers. I understand why people are making a big deal out of the throw (because he is a lighting rod for liberals and conservatives), but I just wanted to point that out.
After seeing and hearing the boos, I wonder if the same would have happened to Bush? Do the boos show a trend occuring throughout the nation (Republican defeat in 06 and 08) or are they just a sign that the citizens around the nation's capital are more liberal than the average american?
I am probably reading too much in this but whatever gets my mind off baseball. Ugh. The Nats didn't look good today.
best. headline. ever.
I was saying buu-urns.
I wasn't there, but looking at all the photos, it looks like he palmed the baseball, too.
Say whatever you want about the Bush clan, but at least both Poppy and W throw strikes.
