Post Takes Four Pulitzers
Last year they got none. This year, four.
Hot off the wires we've gotten word that our own Washington Post can add four more Pulitzers to its trophy case, taking the prestigious prizes for Investigative Reporting on the Jack Abramoff scandal, Explanatory Reporting on U.S. attempts to bring democracy to Yemen, Beat Reporting for breaking the story on the CIA's secret prisons and Criticism for its sharp-witted takes on fashion and culture.
We're both excited for the Post and somewhat proud of ourselves -- we called two of these awards in December. We totally should have put money on this.
Our congratulations go out to the winners -- Susan Schmidt, James V. Grimaldi, R. Jeffrey Smith, David Finkel, Dana Priest and Robin Givhan.

"Puliter's"??!!?
Come on, guys, don't you think you could post a typo-free story about the freaking Pulitzers, of all things?
And, of course, maybe I could have ranted without making a typo of my own... (open mouth, insert foot)
To clarify: Please remove the apostrophe from the plural of "Pulitzer."
As much as I'm lukewarm on the Post for its questionable war coverage (I know it's the editorial side, but still), I think R. Jeffrey Smith is a really good writer (especially his correspondence from Africa in the late 90s). Kudos to them.
The most deserved of these is clearly Robin Givhan. It's hard to believe fashion writing could be so edgy in a politics-driven town like DC, but her take down of the parka wearing Cheney at a Holocaust commemoration is one for the clip books.
WaPo = 4.
NYT = 3.
Take THAT, you Grey Witch. :P
I'm rather partial to the two Danas at WaPo: Priest and Milbank. Priest does consistently excellent national security coverage, and Milbank's columns (and reporting) is little short of brilliant.
