Emergency Doughnuts Now!
Free food is always tastier than paid-for food. And free doughnuts are perhaps the tastiest thing of all. As has been mentioned elsewhere, Krispy Kreme is celebrating National Doughnut Day today by doling out free doughnuts to all comers.
According to the one of the commenters over at Wonkette, a long line has formed outside the Krispy Kreme branch on Dupont Circle, rivaling the line that formed outside Dupont Circle's Ben and Jerry's location when the ice cream purveyor offered free cones in honor of their Free Cone Day. Of course, neither of these lines is a match for the line that formed that time when Daniel Snyder gave out free Redskins tickets. Or when Tom Power treated the town to free dinners at Corduroy. Hey, a boy can dream.
In any event, to facilitate your chowing down on sweet, sweet glazed blueberry doughnuts on this day when the "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign is theoretically always on, we note that there is only a single Krispy Kreme in D.C. proper -- the aforementioned location at 1350 Connecticut Avenue NW, on the southern end of Dupont Circle. But if you have cravings and are willing to travel, you will find other nearby Krispy Kreme locations in Alexandria and Rockville. Now, go.
