V Fest?

It all started with a mysterious mention on Pitchfork of a Gnarls Barkley date at Pimlico. Yes, that Pimlico. That lead The Upstate Life to do a little research. 2006_0613_pimlico.jpgThe mysterious event, taking place on September 23, will also feature The Raconteurs, and is called V Fest. We're hoping that this is an American version of the UK's Virgin-sponsored annual event, which this year will feature acts like Radiohead, Beck, The Dandy Warhols, Bloc Party and more. While this probably doesn't mean that Radiohead is playing close to home, it could mean that a very cool festival is coming our way. I for one would pay top dollar to see Gnarls and the Raconteurs all by their lonesome (and by top dollar I mean, of course, $18 or $19 bucks). If you've got any more information about who else may be on this lineup, let us know. And, big thanks to TUL for all that sleuthy goodness. You're the Veronica Mars of local tour news.

Thanks for the mention! Also, just found out Clap Your Hands Say Yeah has been added to the bill

Worst case scenario: It's a concert sponsored by Verizon Wireless's V-Cast download store.

This isn't local tour news for DCist. Sorry. It just isn't.

Where is Pimlico? This seems to be left out.

Out of all those bands you mentioned you would pay top dollar to see Gnarls Barkley and the Raconteurs?? Wow! Atleast now I know where you're coming from... musically speaking. Hey, if pitchfork mentioned it, might as well jump on the bandwagon.

Guess who's getting a "Gnarls Barkley Is Crazy" bumper sticker put on his car next time I see him.

Do you know how to read?

She was just stating that those two are the only ones on the bill so far- and that's good enough for her to go (with the underlying suggestion that should other bands be added- thats all the better).

People will make issues out of anything. Really.

Oh, I thought she was saying that she would pay top dollar to go see Gnarles Barkley and the Raconteurs, and because of them this festival looks likes it's gonna be swell. Thanks for clearing that up.

Flaming Lips are rumored to be playing, and currently have a TBD location for 9/23. The Who are also rumored to be on the bill.

Unconfirmed lineup thus far:

Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Who
Flaming Lips
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Gnarles Barkley
Thievery Corporation
Artic Monkeys
The Raconteurs

To add to the "unconfirmed" lineup, Wolfmother
