Deluge 2006 Coverage Continues...
This is getting pretty ridiculous. The monsoon continues this afternoon and will intensify tonight, dropping comically high amounts of water on much of the region. The National Weather Service has extended its flash flood watch for the area through tomorrow morning, noting:
THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO FALL EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS WHERE AN ADDITIONAL 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED WITH ISOLATED TOTALS TO EIGHT INCHES NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION.That's how the weather types roll, in all caps.
Furthermore, the Weather Service has begun issuing flood warnings for area rivers. According to those warnings, the Potomac River near Georgetown will reach flood stage tonight and may continue at that level through Thursday, if predicted amounts of rain fall this evening. Farther out, the Monocacy near Frederick, Maryland and Goose Creek near Leesburg, Virginia are both expected to top their banks.
We do ask our readers to behave cautiously under these conditions. Drunken mud sliding should only be conducted on high ground, away from high water and downed power lines. You gotta stay away from power lines.

Alrighty then. Thanks for the heads up. I'm headed home to man the buckets, towels, and dehumidfier.
I just hope that somebody in Mt. P sells the nitrogen cans of Boddingtons or Bass. It may be one of those nights.
Does anybody have any suggestions for good places for mudsliding? Drunken or otherwise?
You have to go to where Oregon and Nebraska Ave. meet for good mudsliding.
Did anyone else hear Bob Marbourg this evening (around 6:45-7PM) going off about the lack of cops at 14th and Independence when the lights went dark?
He gave a good minute and a half of his traffic report to calling into question the competency of Ramsey and the DCPD brass to handle a real crisis situation, if they couldn't handle getting cops out to direct traffic at, what Bob feels at least is, an important intersection. He even gave credit to the two cops who were "working tirelessly" at 7th and Indy directing traffic.
After the complaints 'Dr. Gridlock' got a little while ago, I thought some here might appreciate Bob's act. Even if he does have an amazing skill to ignore the traffic conditions I care about when ever I'm in the car. (I'm sure he won't shut up about them as soon as I cross the Woodrow and switch off TOP for music)
