Go Borf Yourself
So, they weren't kidding, apparently. The minds behind the new Borf posters have made good on their promise to post a location for Saturday's event. On the 29th at 9:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 11th and O Streets NW something will happen. A video will be played and street partying will commence.
And that's pretty much all we know at this point. Perhaps on Saturday, our field reporters will descend. If so, we'll let you know all about it.

I'm sure the hookers on 11th Street will love the company on Saturday night. The borf lovers are going to be putting a lot of independent business women out of business for the night!
Don't forget the drug dealers at 11th & O.. Why not hold a party in Anacostia while we're at it? At least, we could be assured that the police wouldn't interfere with the fun!

I hope that the cops show up and arrest them all for congregating without a permit. Or they get roughed up by the pimps of the aforementioned ladies of the night.

11th and O, eh? Yeah, I live around there and that section of 11th is pretty darned sketchy when the sun sets.
You know, I really don't understand all this hatred towards Borf. Personally I just thought it was funny--"Borf is Winning" was almost my bands' EP title. It was absurd and irreverent, and this latest biz sounds along the same lines. If I wasn't busy, I would be tempted to see what it was about. Artistry in bullshit, the bullshit in art.
Then again, some of you may be grafitti snobs. To which I say phooey, and tutti fruiti on Rudy.
Why the hate? Because we have enough problems in this city without jackasses driving in from the suburbs to vandalize people's property. The real question is why doesn't Borf vandalize his own town?
When you spend money to paint your front door only to have it tagged by "Li'l Cru," "CHV," and the "FUK MOB" grafitti starts getting a little old.

My guess is that some of Borf's pals (or other Borf taggers, or whatever) might live around there, as I always see various Borf tags in that hood. The big 99 bottles of beer on the wall was at 12th and P or so, for example.
There's also that big Pepco substation there that could be handy for a video projection or something else.
Borf is just some small-time crook from who confuses smug entitlement for radicalism and a text logo for avant-garde artistry.
I don't understand the people who hero-worship him, and I don't understand (and am disgusted by) the sort of people who think his behavior merits beatings or forcible criminal sodomy.
I'm just amazed that people keep feeling the need to express the exact same opinions about Borf again and again and again. I second the disgust at the broken plunger comment, though ... what is about blog commenting that brings out such hostility in people?

I'm just saying maybe a little criminal sodomy is all these guys need to set them straight. And gay porn can be a real life-changing experience. You get over a lot of sexual hangups and you meet some interesting new friends.

I think Borf's got a little carried away when he read about Situationism and Dadaism. Unlike those folk, he has absolutely nothing to say. Borf, like me, is a member of a generation that has a short attention span and has no qualms about selling out (whatever that means..)

Aside from the usual group of college republicans playing air guitar around a keg, nothing unusual at 11th & O that night.
I live on N Street. Around 11 o'clock on Saturday night we heard some screaming and went out on balcony. There were maybe 150 people (I don't know how to count crowds) on parade down the street. They had loud music, they were all yelling. Some were riding bikes, and my wife saw someone with a bong (!). They had a big banner in front that read "Your investments are our playground."
They took up the whole street, cars had to wait for them to go by. I was a little surprised I didn't hear about it. They walked away down N Street and I went back inside.
