MONDAY
>> Fort Reno can be rained out but never washed away. Tonight, catch a make-up bill of City Goats, Sentai and Metropolitan (rub Craig's tummy for tickets to this sold out show, but an acoustic evening with the ever dreamy Pete Yorn may just be worth it. At the Birchmere, 7:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY
>> Strathmore's free outdoor summer concert series carries on, tonight with Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band, a 14-piece orchestra bringing west African funk and mixes it up with influences from around the globe. 7 p.m.

>> Catch our favorite tiny song writing Australian, Ben Lee, opening up for Dashboard Confessional at DAR. $26.50
THURSDAY
>> Been to The Red & The Black yet? Neither have we, but that will change tonight as we take in the folk-rawk, feedback drenched sounds of Nethers. The band treated us to a few new tunes at their last local gig, so we're hoping we get more of the same tonight. Doors are at 9:00 p.m. Ticketsd are a mere $8.
>> While we’ve been banned from discussing all-things Baltimore, our love of good music knows no boundaries. Thursday, catch emocore sensations Circa Survive at The Recher Theater. 7 pm, $11.
>> Head back to Fort Reno to catch DCist favorites and Three Stars alum The Caribbean, with Sons of Disobedience, & Joe Lally. Free, 7 p.m.
>> If DCist Chris' Three Stars inspired you, head on out to Fado's for an evening with Welbilt.
FRIDAY
>> Death By Sexy (***) have rocked their way up to the Black Cat’s mainstage. So pounding is their rock that the Eagles of Death Metal felt privy to name their new CD after our local hard rock duo. Join them for the release party of their album Big Hit Friday with The Dance Party and Stars’ personal favories, Washington Social Club. 9:30 pm, $10.
SATURDAY
>> There’s been some well-founded buzz building about the four-song EP by The Vita Ruins, which a few lucky 9:30 Club goers were able to score outside of Editor’s show last week. If you missed out, fear not for you can preview these impressive Brit-rock influenced tracks on their MySpace page and see them take the stage for their first show at The Red and The Black. With Timothy Braken Complex (***) and Mikal Evans. $8.
>> Those still afraid to go east of the Captiol can take get their rock -- and a geography lesson -- at DC9 as our local chaps The Run In join Pittsburgh garage rockers Camera and New York’s The GoStation in support of recent Three Stars band Telograph.
>> Come down to the 9:30 Club tonight for a Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience (MAE), as this band from Norfolk, VA hits the stage with emo-rockers The Spill Canvas, and our very own Army of Me, who've been "Going Through Changes" and making quite a name for themselves in the national alternative music scene. $15. 8pm doors.
SUNDAY
>> Close out your weekend with some strong soulful women, as the Sugar Water Festival comes to Merriweather Post Pavillion, featuring Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Queen Latifah. $41 to $76, 6:30 p.m.
