Beck to Play Surprise Set @ Black Cat Tonight

beck.jpg

Stop by the Black Cat tonight and you might be in for one hell of a night. Information Leafblower and the Going out Guru's have it on good information that Beck will be playing a surprise set tonight. Apples in Stereo are scheduled to play, so we don't know what that means for them. Go find out!

Unless you're already in line forget about it. Way to be a ruiner dcist.

ah booooo.

Oh, come now. It's not like DCist posted the passcodes to some concert ticket pre-sale or something.

Way to post the exact same comment on all three web sites.

Wow, no proper tour date in DC? NYC/NJ area got like 3 or 4 shows.

So I'm glad that DCist posted this. Not because I went to see him, but because I was hoping to see the Apples in Stereo and got scared that the shows were combined and that this meant it would be impossible to get in to the show unless I got there super early. But since the Beck show was in the Backstage, it had no effect on the Apples.

So the reason I'm glad I arrived needlessly early was because I got introduced to DC's own Benjy Ferree. Good stuff.

And for the record, you didn't have to show up at 7:00 to get in. I showed up around 8:15 and according to the people in the back of the line, they were around 140 of the expected 150-200 that were supposed to get in.

All this on the same night that the Decemberists were playing. NPR's ratings must have tanked tonight.

the line wasn't affected by DCist at all, dude. There was only 140 in line by 830 or so.

actually, my friend & i showed up at 8pm & didn't get in. they cut off the beck line 5 people in front of us. at 9:15.
so there.

DCist was a ruiner. The line wasn't that long at first but people started cutting in with buddies. I was also cut off with about 10 people in front of me. The thing that made me so mad was that I was one of the first people who knew because my buddy sitting across from me at the meeting got a text direct from the manager. We thought we'd get in but I checked DCist on the way back from the meeting and as soon as I saw that it had been plastered up here, I knew we wouldn't make it. I still tried, but 7:45 wasn't even good enough.

So it's our fault people cut in front of you? How do you figure that?

Plenty of people got out of line when they announced the no re-entry policy.

Also, in case you weren't aware, a little news outlet called the Washington Post also reported this show.

A "ruiner"? I'm sure I've heard something stupider than that this decade but I can't remember what. It's the concert version of new immigrants who don't want anybody else to come in! What, Beck phoned you up personally to invite you to the show? You guys are tight like that?
