Halloween Costume Contest Fun

2006_1101_pumpkinhead.JPGThe District may not get a vote in anything that actually matters, but dammit, we're determined to let you vote on the idiotic stuff. And so DCist presents its First (And Who Knows if We'll Actually Keep Doing This) Annual Halloween Costume Contest. Photos and the link to the poll are behind the fold. Vote away! We'll announce the winner and their theoretical prize tomorrow morning.

I love how the panda shots are located in a Flickr directory titled "medildo." Based on that alone, they're a winner in my book.

Now I have that stupid Animaniacs song stuck in my head! :(

monkeyerotica, all the pictures are in flickr under "medildo", so that's no reason to give unfair advantage to stupid pandas.

nacho libre is clearly the best costume.

Wow, way to pick the lamest costumes out there, I will now grade the DCist on its poor selections:

1: Foley: Grade - F Looks more like a golfer with a bad vest than a republican who can't keep his hands off

2: Animaniacs: Grade - F Is that show even still on the air, if I went as Howdy Doody would that have made the list?

3: Milkshake: Grade - F Minus How original, I saw that costume for sale at CVS too

4: Nacho Libre: B Plus actually that one is pretty good

5: Panda's C Minus Butterstick = Cute, these guys = which way to the mascot convention

6: E. Coli Spinach F Minus Minus since when does throwing an electric blankey over yourself constitute a Halloween Costume?

LAME!

As they say, DC: Hollywood for ugly people...

man, those are some lame costumes. todd is right, nacho libre is the only decent one.

Of those 6, Nacho Libre is by far the best. I'm a little disappointed, actually, as I was expecting more choices. Like mine, for example:

The pandas are awesome!

Argh. Some sort of IP tracking lameness means that as soon as one person in my office voted, nobody else could vote. Thanks a lot, DCist.

okay, i swear, i've commented on this thread like four times trying to address your questions but the site keeps crapping out on me. here goes...

-we were only able to nominate the entries that we got
-we tried to avoid choosing costumes that we'd seen done many times before in years past (like the zissou)
-sorry about the IP, it should work now

How is even a contest? Look at these boots!

Thanks for nominating us, DCist! We are happy to report that we've raised $200 in donations and prize earnings so far this holiday to donate to panda conservation efforts. Thanks for all your great Tai shan coverage over the past year!

Hey, Todd, what is up with your hatred for Animaniacs?

It was literally the best kids animated show ever made. Why? Because it's something that kids loved for the zaniness, and that adults loved for the jokes that only older people get. What kids shows reference Jackie Gleason or Groucho Marx? That show was fuckin' brilliant.

I think these are actually pretty funny...if you think they are lame then why didn't you submit a photo of your wonderful costumes?

What's my problem with Animanicas......kids love it for its blah blah blah...sounds like someone went as Nambla man and didn't win the DCist costume contest

Wow, that attack is so unnecessarily offensive and over-the-top that I would almost think it came from a Jonathan Rees sockpuppet.

Now that would have been a hell of a costume this year . . .

I think the Animaniacs costume was fairly clever and pretty well done. Now, it would have been even better if they had another character...say Chicken Boo in the picture. Yeah, I said it...WHAT?!?!

I'm sorry for my vicious strike back, either I am just jealous that my costume didn't make the cut, I am upset because the animaniacs look like disgrunteled mimes, or I think DCist can do better than this.....OR (random so I married an axe murderer quote goes here)
