Fenty Does Love Running
Ruh-roh. There's been some indication for a little while now that Mayor-elect Fenty's official campaign war chest has continued to grow even after he had won the election, and today the WaPo reports that the D.C. Office of Campaign Finance will review nearly $45,000 donated to Fenty after Nov. 7 to determine if the contributions violated city regulations.
The law prohibits campaign contributions from being "received or accepted after the election", with the exception of money needed to repay debt. Considering Fenty has no debts and plenty of cash on hand, it's possible the Office of Campaign Finance will ask Fenty to return some of those post-election contributions — though technically the campaign has six months after the election to settle all financial matters. What do you suppose the Mayor-elect was planning on doing with all that extra money? Now we're really sorry we didn't make it over to his birthday party last week. Did anyone go? Was there special birthday caviar with gold plating? On Monday, Fenty (D) submitted a report that lists contributions and expenses from Oct. 11 to Dec. 10. Records show that Fenty's mayoral campaign raised an unprecedented total of $3.8 million, about 40 percent more than the $2.7 million raised by his closest opponent, D.C. Council Chairman Linda W. Cropp (D).
The report shows Fenty with $725,388 cash on hand and no debt. Cropp received $4,000 in the same period, but she had debt totaling $24,520.
City officials said Fenty will be asked to explain why he has not stopped collecting money.

Gotta love that "deer in the headlights" look, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of that.
I was at the Fenty shindig last week. No gold plated caviar, but Georgia Avenue's favorte hatemonger/Fenty lapdog Sinclair Skinner was there, manning the helium tank and passing out balloons to the kiddies.
Innuendo and other fluff aside, the point seems that Fenty will have something like 5 months to return 45K. Nice writing, Yolanda.
I'll give this guy a chance. I pray to god that he doesn't bring the Barry, Pratt mismanagement. Besides his look is far much better than that bufoons of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield and the entire republican party.........
