Restaurant Week is becoming the must have fashion accessory for the D.C. area this winter. Everyone’s got to have one.

Case in point: Silver Spring, a long-suffering suburban “edge city” that has been on the upswing for the last few years is officially entering the fray to show off its shiny new dining scene February 5-11.

THIS JUST IN: The price for a 2-course lunch will be just $12, while a 3-course dinner will be either $22 or $30.

Silver Spring’s unofficial mayor and number one booster, Susan Hoffmann, tells DCist that 23 restaurants have signed up so far.

Addis Ababa, which one astute reader advised us correctly that it gives Etete in downtown D.C. a serious run for its money, is a good choice, as is Cubano’s, Jackie’s, Taste of Morocco, and Taste of Jerusalem, but there are many more to choose from. Asian Bistro, Austin Grill, Capital Bleu, Ceviche, Crisfield, El Nopalito Grill, Gallery, Golden Flame, McGinty’s Irish Pub, Mi Rancho, Mrs. K’s, Red Lobster, Red Rock Canyon Grill, Sergio’s, Spring Garden Restaurant, and Thai at Silver Spring were the other spots signed up at press time.

And if you didn’t get enough of D.C. Restaurant Week last week but you can’t wait two weeks more, then make reservations now for Bethesda-Chevy Chase Restaurant Week, which starts today.

Newbies like Lia's, Famoso, Indique Heights and Praline, or popular favorites like Passage to India, Grapeseed and La Miche are good bets. There are many to choose from in a complex variety of price ranges from $10 to $35, depending on the restaurant and the time of day.
