Wizards Solve That Pesky Raptor Problem

Due to losses in their previous two match ups, the Wizards were obviously fired up for the Atlantic Division leading Toronto Raptors last night, which was a good thing because it seemed like everyone else - the somewhat sparse crowd, the media, the dance team, G-Wiz - was uninterested and unimpressed. Perhaps they were all suffering from a little seasonal depression or fearful of the latest oncoming snowpocalypse.
No matter the cause, the Wizards laid the smack down on the helpless Raptors in the second half and turned a seven point halftime lead into a 129-109 laugher that wasn't as close as the final score suggests. I wrote "game over" in my notebook after Gilbert Arenas hit three three-pointers and added another jump shot in the first 3:35 of the third quarter, giving the Wiz an insurmountable 22 point lead. Arenas finished with 25 points, a total matched by Antawn Jamison. Antonio Daniels started 6-6 from the floor and finished with 18 points and six assists, not bad for someone that was out of the rotation a few games ago. Calvin Booth and Andray Blatche provided some muscle down low, each blocking three shots and holding Chris Bosh to just one rebound.
The Wizards thoroughly dominated this game, shooting over 51% from the field en route to breaking 100 by the end of the third quarter. All 12 players scored and the team almost recorded as many offensive rebounds (17) as the Raps did on the defensive end (18). All in all they outrebounded Toronto by 22, which explains why Toronto is the second worst rebounding team in the NBA.

Unsurprisingly, the team was in a good mood in the post game locker room. So much so that they slipped up and let me in on a secret. Apparently swag is negotiable.
I asked Agent Zero how he rated his swag and he replied, "Hmmmmmm...out of a ten? I'd give it a six."
"What about for the team as a whole?" I replied.
"It's hard because it was a blowout," he explained. "So we'll just say a six. Six all around the board."
"But you blew them out," a reporter from Sportstalk 980 interjected. "Shouldn't it be higher?"
"You're right," Gil responded. "But we knew we were going to win, see that's the thing. So our swag was probably a nine, because we knew we were going to win."
Good to know, thanks Gil. The Wizards travel to Atlanta tonight for a rematch with the Hawks, whom they defeated last Friday. Jamison was the only starter to play more than 27 minutes last night, so expect the team to be ready to play when they take the court.

I think the swag rating dropped last night. Ugh.
