Warehouse Gallery Still Standing After DCist Exposed

2007_0310_DCistExposed.JPG
Wow. We're blown away. It was an absolutely packed house at the opening reception for DCist Exposed last night; in fact, we heard numerous comments about "possible broken fire codes" and "structural integrity of the building." An estimated 500 to 600 people filled the Warehouse Art Gallery to celebrate our first photography show, meet the photographers, and buy shiny new art for their walls.

Big thanks to everyone who navigated the crowd to join us, including all the photographers who we finally got to meet face-to-face. We'd also like to welcome to our humble site all the folks who heard about the show by word-of-mouth and are now surely to become faithful readers.

Everyone here at DCist is thrilled that the community has been so enthusiastic about this idea — and after the many, many inquiries we heard last night about the "next show," we can almost assuredly say DCist Exposed will be back again to showcase our local, amazing talent.

Don't forget, all this beautiful, DC-loving art work is for sale, so contact heather [at] dcist [dot] com for purchasing information, and support these folks who so generously let us use their work, and are certainly all stars on the rise.

I will start sending y'all photos from now on. LOL.

Thanks to Heather for introducing me to a few artists.

Thanks to Heather and the DCist folk who helped make this event a HUGE success. Everyone I invited had a blast. I enjoyed meeting the other photogs who I'm huge fans of. Thanks again for selecting my photo to be part of the FIRST ever DCist Exposed...an honor to say the least. -Ciao.

I'm still trying to figure out the creepy recording machine with the bald-headed dude on the first floor.

We stumbled in late last night and was very impressed by the exhibit. Congrats and wonderful job!

An excellent time, if a little too busy. But I encourage DCist to do it again (and pick one of my pictures next time!).

Re: some of the comments above: so many haters. I tire of them.

Thanks to Heather and the rest of the DCist staff for putting together the show. It was a huge success by any measure. I enjoyed meeting many of you and seeing the photos up close (when I could muscle my way past the throngs). So many of the photos looked even better in person. Suggestion for the next show: VIP room for photogs stocked with snacks. :). Thanks also to Crumpler for the cool prizes. I won a 4 million dollar home, but it was promptly commandeered by the gf for a new purse--damn. I look forward to DCist Exposed 2.0.

you practically need sunglasses to look at that picture !

Heather!!!!

You rock! When I came back from Sedona my inbox had like 400 emails and there were quite a few telling me what a great show DCist has delivered!

Yay!

Lenny

P.S. More please

congrats - it was great!

I had an absolute blast at the opening. It was so much fun, and it was great to meet the faces behind the names.

My hat is off to Heather and DCist. Thanks a lot, folks. :)

I second all the gushing comments above. I had a blast and can't thank you all enough for your hard work! My only complaint is that I didn't get to meet all the other Flickrites face-to-face because I couldn't sift through the crowd. Not such a bad thing to complain about after all :)
