Go Home Already: The Cameras Are Talking

>> We note the passing of one of the sporting world's all-time greats: former Grambling State University coach Eddie Robinson. Robinson coached the Tigers from 1941 through 1997, compiling a record of 408-165-15. Redskins fans owe Robinson a debt of gratitude for coaching up the man who would ultimately replace him at Grambling, Doug Williams, who won the MVP award for leading the Skins to victory in Super Bowl XXII.
>> Thank you, DCist Tipster! Tickets for the May 18th Elvis Costello show at 9:30 Club are now on sale.
>> FreeRide has the skinny on getting to and from the "Atlas District" -- including the rundown on the X2 Bus, one of WMATA's most reliable lines.
>> Logan Hardware will open a second location as a retail tenant in the CityVista development. [Remaking Le Slum Historique]
>> DCers have expressed mixed feelings about the use of surveillance cameras in crime prevention, but we have the feeling that no one's going to like it if the UK's latest innovation --CCTV cameras that both snoop AND broadcast haughty reprimands (no doubt in the voice of Ms. Doubtfire) -- makes it to these shores. God knows Jim Graham probably can't wait to choke up on that microphone. [TimesOnline]
>> Tonight's hidden agenda: Dj Neville Chamberlain, Dj Naraku, and Dj Provoke spin psych/funk/mod favorites at their monthly gig at Cafe St. Ex. 1814 14th Street NW. 10 p.m.

Big Brother with a elegant English accent….well I can go along with that!
Why does DCist always put up blatantly photoshop-ed pics? Im not intending to intend "Bill Adler" bc the pic is fine, I just dont understand why you guys are into stuff like this... Its just kinda boring really isnt it? The picture was color, then a selection was made around the flower and the area outside of the flower was turned into b&w. Voila! Again, no offense to Bill, its just there are much better pics to choose from (Im sure Bill has other good ones) Ive seen other ones you guys have posted and you can literally see that the person has thrown a few filters on and messed with the color levels to a degree that things begin to look like artificial shit. Maybe you need to get someone with better taste to choose your pics or maybe I should find something more important to do with my time. Clearly the latter is the solution :(
Um, the Costello tickets, at least for now, are for sale only to Visa Signature card holders, I believe. At least that's what the 9:30 Club e-mail today said. Everyone else can join in the madness tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the compliment...well, sort of, anyway. Actually, although I did use Photoshop to clean up the picture a tiny bit, mainly by cropping and adding a touch of contrast, I left the colors alone in this photograph. Some of these spring flowers are spectacularly vibrant.
(The flower is on the east side of 30th Street, NW, just off Ordway, though chances are that with the cold coming, this poor little flower's going to be changing.)
What struck me about this scene is that the flower, as it stretches its stem upwards, seemed to be begging passersby to spend a moment or two with it.
Don't forget about the Grandmaster Flash show this weekend.
Logan Hardware already has a 2nd location - and a 3rd. They're in Glover Park and Tenleytown.
Congratulations to them on the next branch!
The photo's not black and white around the flower - mulch turns grey when exposed to the elements. It also becomes very matted which could explain why there's only one flower out there. Nice pic, Bill. :)
