>> By far one of the most fun bar nights in town is always where ever the Guerrilla Queer Bar Takeover kids end up -- the mingling of gays and straights in D.C. ever a combination as terriffic as chili and cheese. So you can bet we'll be swinging by to celebrate the Third Anniversary of the Guerrilla Queer Bar Takeover at Black Cat tonight. The takeover starts in the Red Room at 9 p.m. and will flow into the back room for free dancing to Britpop, soul, and indie pop w/ DJs Stereo Faith and Julian S. Process as the night progresses.
>> Grandmaster Flash is back in town after being the first hip-hop artist, along with his Furious Five, to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year. Late show at 9:30 Club, 11 p.m., $20.
>> For those of you who can't get enough of contributing to the Callum Robbins Family Fund: The Murky Upstairs team is hosting a respectable line-up in support of the charity, featuring Sentai, Chicago's Scalpels, Baltimore's excellently noisy Video Hippos and Virginia's Bird Noises. 9 p.m., only $5.
SATURDAY
>> It's a tough decision: Do you go outside in this crap weather, or miss out on an awesome fireworks display? You make the call this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. for the Fireworks Show at the National Cherry Blossom Festival down at the Southwest Waterfront.
>> Don't walk into Japanese master filmmaker Kenji Mizoguchi's The Life of Oharu, probably his greatest epic tragedy, expecting to be uplifted. It's 133 minutes of unrelenting suffering, made unnervingly real by Mizoguchi's devotion to perfect cinematography and a masterful performance by Kinuyo Tanaka as a woman who falls from society to end up a whore and beggar ravaged by disease. Still, for fans of Japanese cinema, it's a rare treat to catch it on the big screen. At the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center. 3:30 p.m. and 8:20 p.m.
SUNDAY:
>> We'll probably take advantage of what's predicted to be a blustery, cold Sunday to head down to Warehouse to check out TM Lowery's show with his Deermilk Collective of artists, The Werewolf Youth. If you missed our preview, just follow the link for an explanation. Open noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays, show runs through April 20.
>> Inara George and Greg Kurstin of The Bird and the Bee are spinning a DJ set at an after-party for their 9:30 Club show with Lily Allen down the street at DC9. Starting around 11 p.m. It's free, so expect a crowd.

i know DCist never gives them the love they deserve, but Saturday at 1 p.m. is the Caps final game of the season. It's fan appreciation day, too, so there are bound to be plenty of free give-aways.
I can't say it loud or often enough. For those of you vaguely pissed off that there is such a thing as a Britpop/indiepop dance party, head to the mainstage and rock. Lucero, Black Cat, 9pm. Rock on.
American Princes open the Lucero show and are well worth checking out.
What's the recommended way to get down to Southwest Waterfront? Might be a dumb question, but help me out here.
Having Guerrilla Queer Bar Takeover at Black Cat is kind of pointless..there always lots of gay people there anyways, myself included.
the best way to get down to the sw waterfront area is to take the waterfront-seu metro stop on the green line (one south of l'enfant).
just so you know though, be ready for packed lines and chaos after the fireworks...
