You just gotta love Jim Graham. He's all for helping out the gay strip clubs. Just as long as they are way the hell away from Ward 1. Tommy Thomas must love the fact that Ward 5 will soon have a thriving gay strip club nightlife. That's gonna go over really well with the locals and church groups.

Funny headline. There were no live nude girls at the strip clubs the city got rid of. Unless by girls you mean gay men. In that case the headline is correct.
Graham's not pandering. He's trying to find a compromise. Why would any responsible councilperson want to move strip clubs into their ward? Especially one like Ward One that is being revitalized.
Why is it sad that the guy in Falls Church wants to live with a white person? If that makes his life more comfortable, what's the big deal? It's not like he is like he's a landlord or community leader trying to keep people of other races out. If a black person made this request DCist wouldn't say "boo".
Here's a tip: If the staff of DCist would like to cover some real racism, get up off the barstools at DC 9 and head to an ANC meeting in Shaw. There you can witness, and OH MY GOD actually report on some real red meat hatred from the likes of Leroy Thorpe and his ilk directed and whites and gays of all colors. Maybe you hip young things could break some real stories and help to "change" the "community".

I really don't see what the big deal is either. When I'm at work, I won't use a bathroom stall after a black person has just used it. Does this make me a racist? It's not like I'm advocating lynching "them" or anything, I am just more comfortable around my own kind.
Actually three of the displaced/relocated clubs will have girls: Edge/Wet (had been gay but the new spot will be straight), Club 55 and Nexus. Additionally, the bill will allow another straight club called Clancy's (a club in outer SE which is part of the Skyland redev) to move as well. I believe two/three gay clubs will move -- though, I think Siegel's place on West Virginia Ave may well be more of a "private" club. All in all, GOOD news for gay and straight voyeurs in DC.
The Nexus Gold Club was not in the stadium footprint. The building it was in was just sold to a developer to build a new office or residential building. Wet/Edge was also sold and Wet was a gay nude club. The owners want to reopen that as female nude bar on West Virginia Avenue but are running into problems. LaCage/Heat, Secrets, Follies, etc (male clubs)were all located where the stadium is now being constructed. They were fighting to keep their buildings but were ultimately taken over by the city.
