Scandal that Never Was: An Ode to the D.C. Madam

2007_0409_2020palfrey.jpgDeborah Jeane Palfrey is a cruel mistress. Err, madam. For months now we've been patiently waiting for the D.C. Madam story to break wide open with the release of some juicy names from the client phone records of the alleged former prostitution ring run out of the Pamela Martin and Associates escort service. But as you already know by now, the results have been largely disappointing, with former Deputy Secretary of State Randall Tobias the only casualty of Palfrey's revenge. We've practically been crying ourselves to sleep every night since her 20/20 appearance.

Today, we are sad to say it seems as though the final nail in the coffin of the D.C. Madam story is being driven into its haphazardly thrown up drywall exterior. U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler has placed a temporary restraining order on Palfrey and her civil attorney, prohibiting them from sharing additional phone records with news organizations or the public. Basically, even if there was some high profile name lurking within the 40 lbs. of phone records from the company, which they're probably aren't, we're unlikely to see any more of them unless a judge finds some compelling reason to lift the lid on the records.

So, until we hear differently, Ms. Palfrey, we're going to bid you a fond farewell. It's as if we went on three or four great dates, but you never made a move, and we just don't have the time to waste pursuing someone who's that big of a tease -- even if you're a tease with tremendous promise. No more posts for you, D.C. Madam. Unless you know, you call us with the information we've all been hoping to get but are too afraid to wish for out loud. You do that, and of course we'll come running back into your arms, grateful for the sweet, sweet caress of trashy news once again.

Since when is obstruction of justice "trashy news". I find it odd that a federal judge orders silence. I can not wait until 2008.

Seriously, you guys are teh l4me.

"Gladys Kessler has placed a temporary restraining order on Palfrey"

You know, that actually sounds sort of kinky . . . .

Gladys Kessler.... sounds hot...

I find it ironic that the Feds bring this case, launch press conferences to tout their big catch, then get upset when the defendant uses the press like they did.

A bit of a double standard?
