Fort Reno 2007 Schedule Announced

2007_0531_fortreno.jpg

As we mentioned in the Morning Roundup today, there are plenty of ways to define the start of summer. For music lovers in the D.C. area however, once Fort Reno starts, you know the lazy days of fire fly catching and swimming pool splashing are officially upon us. We told you last week about the opening lineup for this summer's series on June 18, but we're happy to tell you now that the full schedule is up for your planning pleasure.

Lots of DCist's favorite bands on there — Deleted Scenes, The Hard Tomorrows, The Sentiment, Joe Lally, Greenland, Meredith Bragg and Benjy Ferree to name a few. We're also looking forward to spending more time with The Evens, Edie Sedgwick, Beauty Pill and a whole lot of other amazing local bands under the stars this summer. Shows are every Monday and Thursday starting in June and running through August 16th. That's 18 shows to make your summer nights even better. As always, the shows are free, but donations are welcome and encouraged so they can keep this wonderful tradition going. For more information, including how you can become a Fort Reno volunteer, visit the about page.

The Sentiment, Julie Ocean and Mess Up The Mess are playing June 28th, not July 2nd.

Don't leave out The Shondes, who will be at the Black Cat on June 10.

Uh, the Shondes were left out because they are not on the Ft. Reno schedule.

that line-up needs some flava

that lineup needs some date check. the schedule is all wrong!

Well, they are soliciting volunteers for help with such things. It's always difficult to cross all your t's and dot all your i's when you're taking on a labor of love and relying on the generosity and reliability of others. Pitch in and help them out!

I first went to fort reno in 1996.
Shows were diverse.
they even booked hardcore bands.

now, it just sucks.
book more hardcore, or even hip hop or go go, or EVEN (gasp) an actual punk band

there seem to be some glaring omissions here

these united states, georgie james, metropolitan, exit clov, the cassettes ... i could go on

Perhaps they didn't submit a demo to play or couldn't find a date that worked out? They could be on tour too.

The Ft. Reno season is a bit shorter this year, so not as many bands could be booked. And, based on the e-mail my band received last month (we did not get booked), acts that had played at Ft. Reno over the past year or two might get booked this year if the tighter scheduled forced such decisions.

But also as Steve said, perhaps some bands did not submit demos or had scheduling conflict. Bands don't magically appear on the schedule simply because they have a following.

Also, there are still a few TBAs on the schedule. So it looks like not everything is booked yet.

there seem to be a lot of highschool bands which is awesome and sort of what it's about to me (not necessarily the better promoted bands).

i'm wondering for maybe the 10th consecutive year what an "actual" punk band is.

exit clov are terrible.
