Nothing happening in the front of the condemned Shiloh Baptist Church properties today, but I nearly jumped straight up in the air when upon rounding the corner to the back alley, a group of workmen in orange vests pulled up in a truck containing shovels and other tools.

Alas, it turns out these guys are from Comcast, and will be spending the day running cable television access from the alley across Rhode Island Ave. to hook up Shaw Jr. High School. Obviously I'm pleased to hear that Shaw Jr. High students will be able to get their fill of Animal Planet very soon. But it was mighty disappointing to be fooled by a faux construction crew.

While I was back in the alley this time I took more careful note of the pile of yard clippings in the back of the properties. I can't tell you for sure how long it has been there (more than a few days for sure), but it does appear as if
somebody has been in the back doing some amount of clean-up work in the last few weeks. Still, the substantial repairs that have been ordered to be completed by May 31 have not begun.
