Christian Gomez Tiene Un Posse

Christian Gomez Tiene Un Posse
Andre the Giant, Schmandre the Giant. The other day we noticed one of these stickers on a lamppost at about 13th and R Streets NW. It's good to see some grassroots (lamp roots?) support for the D.C. United star, and Dan Steinberg over at the D.C. Sports Bog has been on the case for some time.

For those who don't know, "tiene un posse" is a reference to the Andre the Giant Has a Posse stickers by artist Shepard Fairey, which later evolved into the OBEY Giant campaign, an "experiment in phenomenology."

Steinberg noted about a month ago that a limited number of stickers were given out at tailgate for the Barra Brava, one of United's supporters' clubs, though we only noticed this one recently. Has anyone else seen Mr. Gomez's two-tone visage anywhere else? And anybody know who made the stickers?

And more importantly, who should be next? We're thinking "Luciano Emilio tem um posse," thanks to Google's translating.

So Borf is now contracting for DC United?

i rip everyone of these down.
corporate sports overlords.!

Luciano Emilio can be "next" if he single-handedly carries DCU to the MLS Cup on his back this season, like Gomez did when he showed up mid-season in 2004.

I've seen a couple thousand...all over Toronto!

@dcfist...your attempt to Fight the Power of the Corporate Sports Overlords, while noble in its conception, is misguided: DC United had absolutely nothing to do with the stickers, which were conceived, designed, ordered, paid for, and distributed by fans...I'd say who, but they didn't exactly have the permission of the Corporate Sports Overlords to use SeƱor Gomez's image... ;-)

I have a right not to have to see these things. A RIGHT!!!

i run tings, tings no run me. stickers and toys get dissed.

I like.
