>> Latin jazz legend Paquito D'Rivera comes to Strathmore on Thursday to play with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. This should make for a special night of music and tickets to the 8 p.m. show are available online for $30.

>> Friday is a busy day in jazz land, with the week's must see taking place at the Strathmore. Earlier this year, jazz singer, educator, and D.C. institution Ronnie Wells (pictured) succumbed to cancer, and this week a host of D.C. jazzers will pay tribute to her with music. Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are $15 and available online.

>> Legendary jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal comes to the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center this Friday for an 8 p.m. show. Tickets available online. $30.

>> Free jazz pioneer Charles Gayle takes the stage at Twins Jazz this Friday and Saturday with bassist Gerald Benson and drummer Michael Wimberly. Sets are at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m and tickets are available online. $27.

>> On Monday, Garaj Mahal brings its awesome name and fusion of funky jazz with Middle Eastern beats to Blues Alley for 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets available online. $20 + $10 food/drink minimum.

>> Murali Coryell, son of jazz guitar great Larry Coryell, is a singer-songwriter with a taste for the blues. Next Tuesday, he visits Blues Alley for 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets availabe online. $18 + $10 food/drink minimum.
