About Tonight

>> Author Paul Karasik will be at Politics and Prose to talk about his book, I Shall Destroy All Civilized Planets, which chronicles the life of Fletcher Hanks, old school comics illustrator from the 1930s and creater of Stardust, and why he disappeared from comics. 7 p.m.
>> Catch up on your parking lot loitering tonight to see Colombian born artist Kata Mejia perform Healing at 1622 14th Street NW. Presented by the Randall Scott Gallery, Mejia's intense work is occasioned on the one-year anniversary of her brother's violent death by Colombian guerrillas and represents the anguish, heartbreak, and, of course, healing process we must go through when lives are torn from us. See the one-hour performance every night through August 4 at 6 p.m.
>> The Bethesda Outdoor Movie Series presents a free screening of George Clooney's excellent film about Edward R. Murrow, Good Night and Good Luck. 9 p.m., at the corner of Norfolk and Auburn.
>> It would be wrong to miss out on Australian cool kids Dappled Cities as they play a Black Cat backstage show for only $8, with Chicago's All Smiles. If these boys' live show is anything like their album Granddance, you're gonna leave this show happy. 9 p.m.
