Photo of the Day: August 9, 2007

I was just driving by this radio tower on Georgia Avenue NW this weekend and exclaimed how awesome looking it was. Flickr user edwardaggie98 turned it into a great photo, with the fog slowly obscuring it up to the top. Maybe it's supposed to be rotated clockwise, but the 90 degree angle gives an interesting "what exactly is that" feel. EXIF.

It looks like the scariest bridge ever, reflecting perfectly off of the water.
I think this tower is a more notable part of the DC skyline than the Lincoln Memorial. The DCist logo should reflect this and include our "Little Eiffel".
It looks like a roller coaster.
I totally concur that it looks like an updated Eiffel Tower... thanks for the interesting photo today!

reminds me that I forgot to take pictures of the washington monument when it was surrounded by scaffolding

Verrrrrrrry creative. Way to go, Edwardaggie98!!
When I was eight I would see this from the balcony of our apartment in Silver Spring and think it was the Eiffel Tower. I think my childhood ended when I realized it was just a radio tower next to a police station.
Thanks, Heather. Yes, it's supposed to be angled like that - thankfully, the real thing isn't!
Oops. That was edwardaggie98 who posed that ^
i went into the police station once and asked wtf it was. they said it is the radio tower for all metro dc law enforcement communications.
