>> After endless debate about whether to trade, keep, or re-sign Alfonso Soriano last year, we can finally call that chapter of the Nationals history books officially closed. Just before tomorrow's deadline, the Nats finally came to terms with 18-year-old pitcher Josh Smoker, who was with the main player who the team received for losing Soriano (via a compensatory draft pick). Smoker joins new Potomac Nat Ross Detwiler as the golden arms of the Nats 2010. [WaPo]

the capitol lounge WJLA link is bad

No!!

They can't change 15th street! Such a quick way through U Street and Dupont East.

Yes!

Please change 15th Street to two ways!

Make it two northbound lanes and one southbound lane, with bike lanes and parking on both sides.

C'mon guest 3...I'm not some suburbanite asking for a super highway. I just don't want to see the only "quick" way up to Columbia Heights/Petworth destroyed.

Besides, Dupont/Logan Circle is filled with "neighborhood streets" and doesn't really need another one.

Plus, if you make it two ways, congestion down there is going to be that much worse - similar to 16th Street, which can be a real bear.

I realize this may not matter to you if you bike, but at the very least, the more cars the more noise.

Actually, I think that if two northbound lanes were kept in place, that would handle most of the traffic for most of the day. I don't think it'll cause that much congestion beyond slowing down traffic a little bit... and, as a neighborhood resident, I would welcome that.

And, if it makes people take other routes (or other modes...), that may not be so bad.

Besides, speeding is not the fastest way up 15th. The lights are timed for the speed limit. Going 45 just means you stop at every light.

I would hate to see this change.

15th street is a godsend for heading uptown. Keep it as it is! In fact, we need to change another nearby two-way street into one-way southbound for the same light-timed benefit in the other direction.
