Argyle Academy continues its amazing streak of being not even slightly funny.
Made me chuckle... ah Screech, Slater, and the gang!
I really like Argyle, but with it only running once a week, and usually buried off the page by the time I check DCist monday afternoon, it's really hard to care.
It's not unfunny, it's esoteric!
I'm guessing some people are fans of Argyle Academy, but it's not really something that is funny or offers insightful social commentary to most of people in the DCist community, I'd guess. If you keep Lowery as your staff cartoonist, I'd suggest publishing another cartoon alongside it each week...have people upload their cartoon strips or Far Side single cels to a Flickr pool and pick one to three each week to post with Argyle. Every month, you could even do a best-of tourney to pick a highlight cartoonist, if you wanted. Then you could publish the running Argyle comic, and a submission from the winning Local Cartoonist of the Month (LCotM) together every Sunday til there's a new LCotM. Just something that might be fun, and prevent people from continuing to wonder how Argyle Academy was selected, and who constitutes the niche that Argyle appeals to.
