About Tonight

>> Diddy's in town tonight, which means only the most masochistic of locals will be waiting in line to get in to new nightclub Ibiza. Our advice? Stay out of the 1/2 mile radius around 1222 1st Street NE completely starting from 10 p.m. to around dawn. It's just going to be too full of desperate people looking to catch a glimpse of the party host -- like a Saturday night in Adams Morgan except with even more stilettos.
>> His Name is Alive and Bellman Barker will be backstage at the Black Cat tonight, 9 p.m., for $10. Sure to satisfy the shoegazers.
>> Anita Thompson, wife of the late Hunter S. Thompson, will be at the Penn Quarter Olsson's to talk about her new book, The Gonzo Way: A Celebration of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, a collection of memoirs and interviews with those who knew him best, including Johnny Depp, Ed Bradley, Doug Brinkley, Jack Nicholson, Bill Murray and former Sen. George McGovern. 7 p.m.
>> The D.C. Shorts Film Festival kicks off tonight -- though we have to admit that in years past, we've often been disappointed with the quality of the selections. Individual tickets are available for two sets of screenings at 7 p.m. tonight, but since the festival goes on through Sept. 20 and offers a number of "best of" nights that promise to sift out the clunkers, you might want to wait before purchasing unless you're a serious film geek.

Uh, given the lack of comments on this items, does anyone who reads DCist even know who Diddy is? Could someone help me understand why his coming to DC is at all relevant?
maybe he's making a band.
Diddy who?
