Last-Minute Push for Voting Rights Hits Senate
If you've got a few minutes to spare, the folks over at D.C. Vote have asked that as many people as possible pick up a phone and call the Senate to demand that legislation granting the District a voting seat in the House be allowed to move forward tomorrow.
Just call the toll-free number 1-866-346-3008 up until 5 p.m. and ask to speak to your senator. District residents will be patched through to Sen. Mitch McConnell's (R.Ky.) office. If you need any handy talking points, feel free to use ours. Or if you're talking to Sen. McConnell's office, remind them of Kentucky's history.
So get callin'!

Two folks on the Barney Circle neighborhood list have said that McConnell's office is hanging up on folks. Stay classy, Kentucky!
If you're calling from inside DC, you can save the good people at D.C. Vote a little cash and call the capitol switchboard direct at 202-224-5121.
I just called; they kept me on hold for exactly five minutes and very politely listened when I asked that the good Senator allow the bill to come to the floor for a vote.
i called mcconnell's office and got a bored-sounding if polite staffer who listened and said "OK. Thank you."
that was it. hey, who knows if it'll matter, but i had to try.
Thanks to everyone who made calls. I was up walking the Senate offices today and I heard from a number of them that they were getting a lot of calls on this today. Thanks again to DCist for keeping this in front of people and driving them to action.
