I would reword the last sentence:
Thankfully, the officers were only slightly injured, despite the teanager's violent attempt to run them down. Hopefully the teen will receive more than the standard slap on the wrist as is common in Washington, DC.

I am all about peaceful resolutions to things, but HE is the one who escalated it to intent to kill, not the cops. It is true... Tunnicliff's is opening a bar on U street. I think it is U Bar. Should be a cool place, thinking opening is in late Fall Oct/Nov!
