>> I have vivid memories of watching the significantly creepy 1960 TV version of Peter Pan starring Mary Martin when it was rebroadcast in 1989. Baby boomers were always talking about this particular production as something akin to a religious experience, the one that captured the magic of the story the best and that reminds them of childhood like nothing else. Maybe the fact that you can see the strings on the damn kids had something to with it, but "magic" isn't exactly the word I would use to describe it. Nevertheless, it's probably a lot less scary now than it was when I was nine, and certainly campy enough to enjoy after downing a few beers at happy hour beforehand.
