Morning Roundup: For the Children Edition

2007_1004_MR%282%29.jpgGood morning, Washington. We always thought it might be sort of fun to suggest something totally off the wall about President Bush, like that he might, oh, hate your children and want them to die sick and alone. Now that he's gone ahead and confirmed it, it's hard to know where to go from here. Is there anything worse than sick and dying children? How about, President Bush is in league with the devil? While that might in reality have more terrifying long-term consequences, it doesn't really seem worse. President Bush killed thousands of people? Hmm, best to stick to outlandish claims. President Bush screwed your wife, lost you your job and then drank the blood of your children? Help us out in the comments, this could take a while.

Hate Crime at Deaf High School: It's come out that a black student was held against his will by a group of students who drew "KKK" and swastikas on him in marker at Model Secondary School for the Deaf, a boarding school on the campus of Gallaudet University. Seven students, six white and one black, took part the incident, which occurred over the weekend. All seven students were sent home, and D.C. police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.

Police Union Has Problem With Foot Patrol Plan: The Examiner quotes the D.C. police union chief saying he supports the mayor’s plan to put more foot patrols on the street, but not at the expense of response time. Kristopher Baumann, head of the Fraternal Order of Police lodge, said that taking officers out of police vehicles slows down their response time, and that officers should have access to police vehicles to be able to respond to more urgent calls -- which is apparently not a part of Fenty's plan. Baumann also said there is no evidence that foot patrols reduce crime.

Briefly Noted: Police are looking for four missing children ... CFO Gandhi says Williams bonuses didn't violate rules ... Four suspicious fires in Senate bathrooms ... Nine D.C. area schools honored with Blue Ribbons from Dept. of Ed ...

This Day in DCist: Last year we came up with the best pun ever to use with Dan Tangherlini's name, and the year before that we took a first look at the then-new Busboys and Poets.

President Bush-Farts on little kids' heads and then drop-kicks your hamster.

I gave him my baby to kiss, AND HE BIT IT! ON THE HEAD!

Senate bathrooms are having the best year ever!

I love the photo on the cover of the Post Metro section today with the blue ribbon school kids eating cupcakes. precious. That really made my day.

Does anyone know what was up with the firework display over the Potomac (near Kennedy Center/Georgetown) last night around 9:45? It was actually quite nice!

BostonRay has an issue: Sommer, it appears, likes to encourage hate, rudeness, anti-Americanism, discrimination, devisivness, false smears and overall promote herself as a perfect example of Generation Z - the zero brained. Folks, here is the finely tuned and broomed product of the redical left winged "educational system" dedicated to the production of the robatic agenda following minions where 55% fail basic history and the rest can't read a map, here is a product with a total absence of social skills and grace. This, I give you, is what is wrong with some of America today. Sommer - the picture child of the failing generation. I guess she does this as a cry for a stint in rehab - it's so-o-o 'in' today.

BostonRay: ok, that was a nice half-rant there. you've established that sommer has said something that annoys you. now, how about you shoot your load and tell us exactly what that is and what you would say instead?

This brings up an interesting dilemma: if one of the suspected perpetrators at Gallaudet is black, would he be also charged with a hate crime? And if not, can the white perps rightfully be charged as such? Interesting to consider.

"The president just killed and ate a Jewish baby."

David Cross, anyone?

is the victim related to Tawana Brawley? Al Sharpton is probably on his way.

#10:

Huh?

I think BostonRay doesn't like people making fun of George W. Bush. George W. Bush who has galoshes made from Jewish babies and subsists largely on the screams of waterboarded kittens!!!!!

George Bush treats objects like women, man.

BostonRay is going back to Boston, where most people love our president and care deeply about patriotism.

Hoodrat, George W. Bush has done a lot of terrible things, but, really, having galoshes made from Jewish babies and subsisting on the screams of waterboarded kittens are not among them.

That'd be Dick Cheney.

"This brings up an interesting dilemma: if one of the suspected perpetrators at Gallaudet is black, would he be also charged with a hate crime? And if not, can the white perps rightfully be charged as such? Interesting to consider."

Can you commit a self-hate crime?

This reveals one of the reasons why the concept of a "hate crime" is flawed. By defining a crime by motive (rather than intent) you are stuck in the case of this black offender. I think a better approach is to just prosecute crimes on their face (e.g. assault) and consider any racist motives as an aggravating circumstance during sentencing. Maybe the end result is the same, as perhaps it should be, but the logic of defining a crime by its motives has always bothered me.

You care about kids? Then you can write a check and show you care by spending YOUR money. There are plenty of charities out there. And if you want, you can even send a check to the US Treasury and they will cash it.

Don't TELL me you care by wanting to spend more of my money. SHOW me you care by putting your money where your mouth is.

Otherwise, do you know what that makes you? A hypocrite just like millionaires John Edwards and Ted Kennedy.

The millions of uninsured kids in America do not have checkbooks nor do they have the means to get the health care that they need.

The BS excuse being rolled out by the politicians that 2-300% of povertly line does not deserve health insurance help is a joke. Ask any solidly middle class families with two kids and two working parents how hard it is to afford health care for their kids and you would know this.

Or, get cancer and see if you can keep a job and the roof over your head while getting chemo. Just happened to a 40 yr old friend of mine - solid, hard working maintenance worker in DC. Then you will wish that the govt. had expanded this program to include kids.

You care about kids? Then you can write a check and show you care by spending YOUR money. There are plenty of charities out there. And if you want, you can even send a check to the US Treasury and they will cash it.

Presumably, then, you won't be utilizing medicare, social security, subsidized college loans, etc.?

BostonRay actually read the bill: Smokers were being told to foot the bill for "children up to age 25" and millions of children who are currently covered by health insurance according to the preposturous new income limit of $85,000. I call that gross discrimination against a target group. Add that to the fact that low income people would bear the heaviest burden as they are smokers. This is socialized medicine. 50% of all "uninsured children" are uninsured because of changing jobs and only remain so for less than 3 months on average. Since there are fewer smokers than can cover this cost the government would have to create 40% more smokers to break even. No children who were covered under the past bill were dropped. Congress continued it without adding undeserved millions to the roll. You do not add middle class to the needy. NO! I do not believe anyone should solicite fools to insult anyone, not just a President. What you get is the tripe you read in these comments.

monkeyrotica - haha. great quote, dude! thanks for the much-needed laugh.

18, then where do you draw the line? Why should we risk the fact that rich people's kids can have ailments too? This is the kind of move that will only push medical costs higher as the govt subsidies continue to rise the income ladder.

monkeyrotica: #2 is a great quote, though Child Services doesn't appreciate parents referring to their children as "IT."

Never mind the new SCHIP crowds out private insurance, transforms it into a middle-class subsidy, will eventually balloon in cost, and is funded by revenue that steadily decreases every time taxes are raised (i.e. cigarette taxes). Pretty soon the cost is coming out of general revenue and not smokers' pockets.

If SCHIP was really about needy kids, the Democrats would shoot for an increase in percentage of coverage for poor kids first instead of turning it into a permanent middle-class entitlement and political club in which they can beat Republicans into submission "for the children".

i think bostonray is out of his good goddamned mind. "uninsured because of changing jobs and only remain so for less than 3 months on average" -- wow, that's fan-flipping-tastic. wouldn't it be a bitch if you got seriously ill during that 3 months without coverage?!? or should we just schedule our catastrophic illnesses with our doctors and hospitals beforehand?

oh, and have fun with all the bush worshipers in boston. i believe they will follow you wherever you go, as they're likely in yer head.

Never mind the new SCHIP crowds out private insurance
----
That's a complaint like saying that SCHIP crowds out murderers. I WANT SCHIP to do that, don't you? I'm paying $400 a month toward insurance for my family. A friend of mine is paying $800 per month because he owns a small company with less of a "deal" from the insurance companies. $800 a month for health insurance! The system needs an overhaul.

BostonRay doesn't know what the f*ck he's talking about.

2004 Presidential Election results for Boston:

Bush: 44,103
Kerry: 158,922

Not to mention the fact that if only a meager percentage of Bush's idiotic, endless war in Iraq were diverted to fund healthcare for children, lower-and/or-middle class, it would have been easily affordable. The giant sucking sound you hear is a billion dollars a day/week/whatever going down the drain in the Middle East.

-Mr T in DC

Good thing the DNC is being so high-minded about the SCHIP veto - http://www.democrats.org/page/-/images/email/20071003_schipbButton.jpg

Everyone knows that under the President's veto, kids will never make it into the doctor's office in the first place, much less far enough into an exam to put on a gown. They'll be children's tylenol at home instead. That is a silly ad, indeed.

Personally I think that this bill is flawed (it understates its costs significantly and it's clearly a sugary spoonful of a step towards socialized medicine), but not terminally so. But that aside, I despise the sort of political manipulations that the Democrats are using here. I hate it when any politician of any political stripe pulls this crap.

These "won't somebody please think of the children/flag/little baby jesus!?" appeals are always nauseating.

I’m very excited that this news is breaking out.

I see MSSD as a breeding ground of hate like a boot camp. Thats where future soldiers of American Sign Language (ASL) learn their tricks. Once they pass the ‘crucible’, through the Kappa Gamma fraternity at the neighboring university, they learn how to export scourge and oppression upon deaf groups and people who do not use or embrace ASL.

Getting the spotlight on the recent MSSD incident is a very positive step toward eliminating this particular breeding ground that has farmed, sponsored, and encouraged hate toward people and groups who don't use or support ASL.

BostonRay speaks: I luv the 'self entitled' taxocrats. Bet you will all want some of Hillery's $5,000 per babe as retroactive. I can offer $10,000 per wunderkind because, like Hillery, I don't have the money either.

I got some news for some of you: You are not e-n-t-i-t-l-e-d to health care. It is not supposed to be a Government function. It is not in the Constitution. The fact that the taxocrats first added the most poor and elderly was a gift. It was then expanded to cover unwed teenage mothers on welfare who then got more welfare for each new 'fatherless' child. NOW you want to define children as 25 and have the middle class added. If you get sick you go to the emergency room and pay for it if you don't have insurance. In the not so old days people paid doctors with chickens and goats. Not Government checks.

Can you not see a cheap divideocrat election year stunt as a sign of how worthless these democrats are!? They are fools playing you like fools. Enjoy President Thompson in 2008 and 2012.

Why are so many people coming around to the fact that Da Chimp is the
Worst
President
Ever
only in the past year or 2?
