D.C. Zombie Lurch '07
The verdict on the D.C. Zombie Lurch on Saturday was sadly a little underwhelming ... we estimate there were maybe only two dozen people participating in the mass "Thriller" dance, another two dozen who were dressed as zombies but didn't dance, and then a slightly larger group of pure spectators and/or friends of zombies who didn't dress up. Still, everyone was having a great time, and we got some fun shots of zombies with the Washington Monument in the background. Maybe the fight for zombie equality will reach critical mass next year.

More shots here, including some from later, when the zombies were on the move (and on the Metro). The numbers for the dance were pretty small, but it seemed like a lot of zombies showed up later. One person counting the zombies getting on the Metro said there were 80, and some had left by that point.
Lame. Perhaps it would have been more impressive, if a)people actually knew about it in advance, and b)participants could have managed to stay in character a little better.
I thought it was fun, even if the number of photographers rivaled the number of Thriller dancers.
Here are a bunch of DC Zombie Lurch photos from the past couple of years...
Also, can I suggest perhaps using a slide show browser that is Firefox friendly (like Kyle uses for his DC United and concert posts)?
It's working in Firefox for me just fine, outdoortype. What problem are you having?
Sommer, I'm in Netscape and getting a "No such photos found" message.
Works fine for me too. Firefox 2.0 on Fedora Core 5. It may be more about having Flash 9 installed than about browser or OS.

Happening this Wednesday in ny if you're up there.
DC has nothing on the record setting 894 zombies to parade through Monroeville Mall in Pittsburgh, site of George Romero's seminal zombie pic Dawn of the Dead.
Maybe DC could win for most zombies wearing Dockers.
The MD marching band did the Thriller dance at halftime Saturday in College Park.
bummed i missed this...
