Red Derby is technically going to be in Columbia Heights. But thanks to PoP for writing - it looks great!

What's with the total lack of coverage of the Dean Johnson double-sketchy double death in the Envoy? The NY Times Style section had a huge piece about it yesterday. Inquiring minds want to know more. For example, have any of the reporters who call the Envoy "elegant" and "historic" actually been inside the place? Methinks not. More to the point: How is it that two people die in the same dude's apartment in the same week and he seems to be way down on the list of suspects? Tell us more, DCist.

risenc - One would hope dcist has their resident gayboy working the story. But to answer your question, Dean made the mistake of dying in DC where the homicide case closure rate hovers around 30%. Not good odds when you're a queer white recovering junkie, albeit a legendary DC fixture.

The story definitely has all the makings of a fabulous Todd Haynes-esque period spectacle: heroin, orgies, gay party boys, murder. I only hope Christian Bale gets the title role.

What? Fenty staff demanding special treatment?

Actually once you cross Spring Street you are in North Columbia Heights, but I don't want to get all M. Grass on you. But it's definitely not Petworth, no matter what the DC city atlas might say. (I'm pretty sure it lists all of ward 4 as Petworth, which must really upset those living in Crestwood and 16th Street Heights.)

Man, if Skins OLs aren't getting hurt on the field, they're getting arrested off it.
