The daughter of President Theodore Roosevelt, Alice married then Speaker of the House Nicholas Longworth and had a child by Sen. William Borah of Idaho. Stacy A. TUESDAY:
New York Times columnist and Princeton economist Paul Krugman will be at Politics and Prose to discuss his latest book, The Conscience of a Liberal, a look at the return of economic and political inequality. 7 p.m.
U.S. foreign policy expert Trita Parsi puts a critical eye to all sides in her fictional account his new book, Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of Israel, Iran, and the United States. Parsi will be at Busboys and Poets to discuss how we will never be able to diffuse the situation unless we attempt to fully understand it. 6 p.m.
WEDNESDAY:
National Rifle Association insider Richard Feldman will be at Olsson's in Dupont Circle to discuss his book, Ricochet: Confessions of a Gun Lobbyist. 7 p.m.
The Atlantic Monthly is celebrating 150 years with the anthology The American Idea, which contains influential essays such as Martin Luther King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" and Henry David Thoreau's "Walking." Join Robert Vare, a senior editor at Atlantic Monthly, at Politics and Prose for a discussion on the magazine's milestone. 7 p.m.
THURSDAY:
David Michaelis will be at the Olsson's in Penn Quarter to discuss Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz, the subject of his latest biography, Schulz and Peanuts . The book chronicles Schulz's bouts with depression, and apparently family members aren't too happy about that.
Walter Mosley, author of the Easy Rawlins detective series, will be at Politics and Prose to read from Rawlins' newest mystery Blonde Faith. 7 p.m.
SATURDAY
Save the whales children! Author Chris Mercogliano compares our newest generation of ADD suffering, Ritalin overdosing, hyperscheduled kids to the willful destruction of our natural environment. He'll discuss In Defense of Childhood at Politcs and Prose. 1 p.m.
