Last week we pointed out a Hollywood Reporter story that says there's a FOX television show in development inspired by the life of D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier. Lanier's life is certainly the stuff of a good drama -- being a 39-year-old single mother who dropped out of high school after getting pregnant at 14, only to work her way to the top to become D.C.'s first female police chief, can't have been easy.
Yesterday the Post's Reliable Source checked with Lanier about the show -- which she said she knew nothing about. Of course, "in development" is Hollywood lingo for "probably never going to happen anyway," so it may all be a pipe dream. But when Amy and Roxanne began speculating about potential casting for the Lanier role, suggesting Vera Farmiga and Laura Dern, we just had to throw our two cents in. Sopranos alumna Edie Falco bears a striking resemblance to Lanier, is a heck of an actor, and as far as we know, totally available.
Anyone else you can think of who'd be good?

If it happens, Edie owes you a finder's fee, Sommer.
How about Sean Young? She hasn't worked in a while.
Most likely it will never come to fruit as Lanier has accomplished anything unique as there are hundreds of women across America with the same story in high profile positions.
This is probably some local propoganda to boost Lanier's image.
Edie Falco is no where near as tall as Lanier. That woman is damn intimidating in person... unless she's wearing 6 inch pumps... which makes her damn sexy in person.
How about Mr. Ed?
Sorry, that was mean.
Mrs. Ed.
I'm with DCfist. We need a more equine actress, say, Sarah Jessica Parker, fresh from her role in the movie version of Sex Lives of Poorly Preserved Cougar Nymphomaniacs.
Lindsay Lohan might be looking for work ...
Ellen Degeneras on stilts with gag teeth?
And a bad hair stylist.
