Photo of the Day: November 2, 2007

2007_1102_potd2%282%29.jpg

Orange Line to AAHHH!!!!!! So we've posted a lot of neat Halloween shots, but we couldn't overlook this one by James Calder. It's like a still from a zombie movie set in Washington. Metro's trademark darkness makes it a little spookier, and amusingly, the guy to to left doesn't seem to be too worried about the undead invasion. And the photo has funny tags too: "what do we want - brains. when do we want them - brains." EXIF.

I'm pretty sure that tag is a Simpsons line.

VJ - could be. In which case, these particular zombies are Simpsons fans, as they used this chant periodically during their circuitous lurch from the Monument to Farragut West metro.

i am sorry but this photo kinda sucks because the guy in the seat behind the zombies is pretty indifferent.

trifecta, that's what makes this picture so great!

The lady in the foreground is cracking up.

Trifecta: I can go either way on this one. They could've cropped judiciously and gotten a very different (possibly better?) picture out of it, but there's something undeniably fun about the juxtaposition.

well, i guess this explains why people drive in NoVA like they don't have a brain in their head...

mellbell - you nailed it. i was vacillating for quite some time.

Zing!

I don't know... is she cracking up or screaming in horror over having her brain eaten by a mob of brain hungry zombies? I'm thinking the latter.

i retract my statement

i assumed the photog simply missed the passenger sitting there

bad trifecta!

I am not surprised that the zombies are headed for Fairfax County.
