About Tonight

2007_1106_abouttonight.jpg

>> The Shakespeare Theatre Company has started a special program, called 20/10, that offers people aged 35 and under discounted tickets for their performances. The program launches tonight, with a special performance of Christopher Marlowe's Tamburlaine where all of the tickets will be $10 for the under 35 crowd, and they're promising a DJ, drink specials and door prizes for those who take advantage. Call the box office at (202) 547-1122 for details.

>> Nashville’s up and coming Paper Rival play their first D.C. show ever tonight at the Rock and Roll Hotel with fellow Nashvillians Pink Spiders, New York's Action Action and locals you, me, and everyone we know. 7:30 p.m., $10.

>> Tickets are still available to catch the John Butler Trio and Ian Ball of Gomez tonight at 9:30 Club -- including a special option of adding 40 cents to your ticket price as a carbon credit that goes to fund Native Energy, a renewable energy company that harnesses energy from wind. Tickets are $25, or $25.40 with the carbon credit, for an 8 p.m. show (doors at 7:30 p.m.)

>> The AFI Silver Theater is hosting a special screening of Yella, the film that won Nina Hoss Best Actress at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival and had festival attendees raving about her star power. Hoss stars in this thriller about a woman who chooses capitalism and the West over the old ways of East Germany -- with consequences that make for a compelling study of cultural conflict. 7 p.m.
