About Tonight

2007_1114_abouttonight%282%29.jpg

>> A solid small local show at the Red and the Black tonight, with the pleasing rock of The Charm Offensive, Cheverly Hot Noodle, and Baltimore's Lawnchair. $8, 9:30 p.m.

>> It might be easy to dismiss Galactic as some frat boy-friendly jam band, but the funk and jazz-influenced quintet are practically royalty in their hometown of New Orleans, and tonight they'll perform with a series of well-respected MCs in support of their latest album, From the Corner to the Block, a foray into hip-hop that's getting rave reviews across the board. At 9:30 Club with Lifesavas, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, Mr. Lif, and Boots Riley of The Coup. 7:30 doors, Galactic begins at 9:45 p.m., $25.

>> New Zealand's David Kilgour is at DC9 tonight with Euros Childs and The Jet Age. Don't miss our interview with Euros Childs from earlier today. $10, 9 p.m.

>> The Japan Information and Cultural Center presents a special screening of The Twilight Samurai, YƓji Yamada's thoughtful 2002 film that will appeal more to fans of Jane Austen than hardcore samurai cinema. Hiroyuki Sanada plays Seibei Iguchi, a low-ranking samurai in feudal Japan who is torn between duty and the potential for love with a woman who has escaped an abusive marriage. 6:30 p.m.

That looks like the Brickskeller to me. But yes, there are a plethora of Belgian beer spots in D.C. Here's our guide to some of the them.

I took the picture at the Brickskeller!
