Go Home Already: Hot or Not?

>> The Senate might have to work all weekend, in advance of a possible vote on Sunday on whether to take up a $50 billion war funding bill that calls for a troop withdrawal from Iraq in 12 months, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) warned. Be prepared to hear all your Senate staffer friends complain about this at happy hour tonight. [The Hill]

>> Foxhall Road will be closed to traffic between MacArthur Boulevard and Reservoir Road on Saturday Nov. 17 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Frederick Douglass/South Capitol Street Bridge will also see delays this weekend. [WTOP]

>> Children's Hospital has moved into its new facility, right next door to the old one. [NBC4]

>> "How did the panel continue without the voting members present? Easy! Eleanor Holmes Norton was in attendance, and she ably steered the discussion during her colleagues' absence. Thank God DC doesn't have a vote in Congress, I guess! That could have gotten awkward." [DCeiver]

I love it:

Anyway, don't let anyone tell you that Norton doesn't contribute to the greater good. She held it down. She did not yield!

Also, a round of applause is in order for DC's 4th graders. They scored a full 6 points higher on the 2007 National Assessment of Educational Progress. Only one other city (Atlanta) had gains in both reading and math at both the 4th and 8th grade levels since 2005. Link: http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard.

hahahaha I've got a UF game on Sat afternoon, a group dinner outing Sat night and MLS Cup on Sunday. I hope the Senators and their staffers have a fun weekend!

I agree DCster, that's good news. Although I hope it is is born of actual gains rather than manipulated tests, as has been alleged by some.
